What is this lump in my armpit?
I have an oblong lump that occurred over the past week and a half in the crook of my right armpit. It’s hard, under the skin, and about 2 inches long and maybe about pinky finger size in width. There’s some redness on the skin where it sticks out a little but really no pain to speak of. I have no other symptoms and I’ve never had this kind of thing before. My research leads me to believe it’s probably a local infection and I plan to see a doctor in the next day or so. Based on my description, does it sound like a cyst, infected lymph node or sweat gland, or some form of deposit? Thanks for any feedback.
It sounds to me like a little skin cyst. If you pinch it and a little dimple shows up in the middle then it is in the skin. The skins layers go pretty deep. But it could also be a sweat or oil gland that’s blocked. I had one in my armpit and the doc prescribed me an ointment that makes it go away but I didn’t even take it. I just left it and it eventually faded away. It’s always good to have it checked out though and if it really bothers you, u can have it cut out.
