Joke or a hint?

Today I was sitting with some of my friends and we were just shootin the shit, joking around and what not and one of my friends is like: “Marcus smells like curry everyday.” I’m Pakistani, but I never eat curry or Pakistani food. I guess I’m kind of paranoid because I’m not sure if he’s joking or not. I never eat any curry or any kind of spicy food, like garlic or onions. I shower daily, wear antiperspirant and wear clean clothes. What do you guys think? Was my friend being serious or was he just joking? I’ve always been paranoid about body odor so he kinda scared me. I’ll probably end up asking him if he’s serious.

Look in either way: if he is hanging around you and passing those remarks, then if he immediately stops, then its a possibility that he is joking. If the joke goes continuously every time, then it may be a hint – a rude remark in which they are trying to pass to you. Keep in mind though, that if he hypocritically makes those remarks about you then it may be for real as a hint, and that would be a cause of concern. However, as racist as it seems – if you have been taking good care of yourself and have been taking the proper hygiene, then there is nothing to worry about. Other people will be around you and will know that you don;t smell like curry, and you are not nasty in any way. Let your friends pass stupid remarks – it does not make them any better – and you don’t have to be in their company. You just do what you have to do, and always stay clean, fresh, and smelling good – no need to go paranoid.
